About the Job
We currently have an exciting opportunity for Software Engineer to join our Store Systems team. This individual will be working on a team responsible for supporting our current point of sale application as well as building out our next generation point of sale platform using a modern tech stack.
What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
- Support and enhance a Java client/server application
- Design and build our next generation systems using a micro-service architecture
- Work in a team-based environment using Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Build multiple micro-services that cohesively support a larger piece of functionality
- Leverage cloud, micro-service, and mobile best practices while adhering to standard architecture patterns to ensure scalability
- Mentor and lead junior members of the team
- Build applications with a mobile first approach
- Ability to estimate level of efforts with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to build APIs that are performant, scalable, and secure
Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of hands-on development experience designing high quality solutions, conducting peer reviews, implementing user stories, and supporting production applications
- Extensive experience working with Java based applications
- Experience in REST APIs, JSON, XML, and Web based applications
- Experience working in a CI/CD development pipeline
- Ability to work closely with the product owner and the lead architect to translate business requirements into scalable and highly available tools
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks, such as Angular or React
- Experience with SaaS and cloud-based technologies
- Experience integrating with 3rd party software systems and platforms
- Experience with automated testing tools and API gateways
Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
- Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis
- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment
- Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, from the Houston Corporate Office or a remote office location
