What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
- Lead, manage and develop a team of IT security engineers/analysts with responsibility for researching, developing, implementing, and supporting company-wide initiatives to ensure appropriate adoption of IT security good/best practices
- Develop and support secure designs for complex, multi-platform systems
- Partner with various technology and business stakeholders across the company to ensure “security & compliance by design” across all business initiatives
- Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders/partners to ensure proper prioritization of, and support for, all approved projects/tasks in support of the IT Security Program
- Maintain standard documentation related to the IT Security Program
- Serve as technical leadership for large, complex projects as part of cross-functional teams
- Establish, document, and maintain standard operating procedures for all security-related processes or controls, ensure the effectiveness of those processes or controls through regular use of performance metrics and KPI’s
- Ensure business objectives and regulatory requirements are being met and build long-lasting, intelligent, effective/efficient security solutions that appropriately mitigate security risks.
- Manage and engineer new technologies that are being designed and architected by the IS architect and ensure, together with the engineering team, successful implementation and operationalization of these technologies.
- Support the operations team to analyze issues and problems and enhance long-term solutions for all security tools under operations.
- Ensure appropriate system tuning/verification to defend against the latest security threats. Drive innovation and protection across new and existing platforms to increase security and reduce risk to the business. Ensure SLA uptime of all security tools enables performance tracking
- Contribute to the alignment of security governance with Enterprise Architecture, Project Management Office, and Incident/Change Management.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security or related field or equivalent experience
- Strong working knowledge of a broad range of security and networking technologies
- Proven experience leading teams
- Demonstrated project management, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of current Information Security trends and best practices
- 5+ years of relevant cybersecurity in a similar role
- Relevant cyber certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CISM) is desired
- Experience in adopting industry-standard IT security frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO27K, CIS CSC, etc.)
- Team player with the ability to interface effectively with a broad range of individuals and roles, including IT and vendors
- A high degree of initiative, dependable, and able to work well with limited supervision
Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
- Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily
- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment
- Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, from the Houston Corporate Office or a remote office location
