About the Job

What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
- Perform general ledger (GL) accounting duties, including maintaining general ledger accounts
- Participate in monthly financial close process including account analysis, account reconciliations, and preparing journal entries
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of balance sheet and reduce the risk of financial misstatement or financial exposure
- Provide balance sheet account analysis as requested
- Prepare journal entries along with required back-up
- Process reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate posting, prepare and analyze financial information, and report and explain variances
- Reconcile various balance sheet accounts
- Assist with the documentation, review, and design of work flows and ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)
- Analyze the basis and outcome of accruals monthly and quarterly
- Provide information and schedules to various departments
- Provide annual audit support
- Contribute to the measurement of Company key performance indicators
- Assist with other general ledger activities
- Additional duties as assigned
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Accounting required
- PeopleSoft experience strongly preferred
- Hyperion HFM experience a plus
- Understanding of general ledger accounts, and practical application of GAAP
- Ability to draw conclusions from accounting information regarding its accuracy and effect on the balance sheet and income statement
- Ability to meet rigorous deadlines and work effectively with others
- Demonstrated ability to gather and communicate data logically, accurately, and concisely
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Aptitude and willingness to learn new software applications
- Analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Demonstrate ability to pay strict attention to detail, with a commitment to delivery of quality and accurate work products
- Versatile, dependable, flexible team player
- Demonstrated ability to consistently display a positive attitude, and willingness to work effectively and efficiently within an environment where priorities constantly change
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently with ease and take ownership of assigned tasks or projects
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Houston, Texas area resident
- Authorized to work for any employer in the United States
- Ability to pass a thorough background check
Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
- Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis
- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment
- Hours regularly 40 hours per week
