About the Job
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a
What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
- Partner with creative head and design leads, inclusive of all cross functional partners to ensure product is designed in accordance with our calendar, meet quality expectations and cost requirements.
- Develop and promote strong working relationships with internal cross functional partners and external services, vendors and suppliers.
- Work closely with head designer, including research, business strategy, sketching, and CAD sample development
- Demonstrates understanding of vertical product development from the planning of the calendar to concept to delivery.
- Research and filter key seasonal trends that are brand appropriate including themes, colors, prints, raw material and styling
- Responsible for Fabric, Pitch sheets, CAD design and trim development
- Make timely design decisions in fit, details, and wash that adhere to the brand aesthetic for proto and production samples.
- Set standard of communication and teamwork
- Execute tech pack developments and ensure proper execution and efficiency for hand off.
- Create alongside assistant line sheets and update with any changes to meet product development timeline seasonally.
- Prepare any and all presentation and inspiration boards to convey ideas and concepts each season
- Maintain with assistant all board materials needed for core and seasonal by brand
- Ensure organization of fabric and trim qualities are met for bulk stage
- Update PLM with materials and sketch details
- Adhere to corporate design calendar
- Maintain an organized workspace in addition to common areas outside of design space
- Support Sr. Design Director on design-based projects and business initiatives as they arise
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field
- 7+ years of experience in the apparel industry with a strong focus on Woven Shirt Design
- Leadership and business management skills
- Design experience must include High knowledge of woven fabric construction, yarn dye textile design, print, color and wash techniques
- Requires strong knowledge of sewing techniques, pattern construction, fitting, grading and costing.
- Proven presentation and negotiation/product execution problem solving skills
- Must understand garment development process end to end and lead execution
- Ability to travel, if needed (current passport needed if international travel is needed)
- Must be able and willing to work out of NY office 3-4 times/week or as needed
- Proficient in sketching, tech packs, Illustrator, Adobe, PLM, Photoshop
- Strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of tech packs, garment construction, fabric and trim
- Excellent time management skills that adhere to calendar deadlines
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and have proactive mindset
- Have a passion for innovation, technology and sustainability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and process, calendar timelines and corporate strategies
Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
- Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis
- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment
- Hours regularly 40 hours per week
