About the Job 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Vice President, Analytics. This individual will work for a variety of business units throughout the company analyzing market segments related to our industry and identify and capture opportunities for strategic alliances. 

What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities  

  • Lead and supervise groups researching strategic business data and conducting data analysis 

  • Develop hypotheses, drive insights creation from existing analytical output, assess implications for the business, and work with the merchandising and planning teams to assess implications for tactical action plans 

  • Generate insights and recommendations on how to capture new revenue opportunities  

  • Partner with omni channel analytics, customer insights analytics, and marketing analytics teams to identify alternative data sources or approaches to improve the accuracy of the insights  

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in pricing and promotional practices 

  • Partner with merchants and planners to set the category strategy, identify opportunities for initial ticketing and markdown cadence, and identify pockets of slow-moving inventory and assess the financial impact of potential promotions changes 

  • Drive education, support, and execution of new initiatives across stakeholders 

  • Structure and identify key business problems in pricing that data and analytics can help solve  

  • Understands strategic needs of the business, and translate need into potential new use cases 

  • Answer complex business questions by using appropriate statistical and modeling techniques on available data or digging deep to understand behaviors and segments within our robust experimentation pipeline 

  • Explain complex modeling approaches in layman’s terms and work with cross-functional teams to interpret modeling results and business case impacts  

  • Provide insight to the business partner in terms of what “state of the art” looks like in data and analytics in their area 

  • Design and build data visualizations and other solutions to empower self-serve analytics and enhance decision-making capabilities throughout the organization 

  • Ensure accurate and proper interpretation of core business and customer behavior metrics  

  • Communicate results, insights and recommendations to merchants, planners and allocators through written and verbal channels 

Skills & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in a quantitative field such as applied mathematics, economics, econometrics, finance, business analytics, computer science, engineering or statistics. 

  • 15+ years working in merchandise analytics. 

  • 8+ years building and leading high-performing teams of analysts and/or data scientists. 

  • Strong both in quantitative analysis and in working with teams to translate the insights from that analysis into impact for the business. 

  • Knowledge of pricing and promotional principles and concepts such as demand estimation, elasticity, and customer segmentation  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communications skills - capable of developing well-structured communications and presentations, storytelling ability  

  • Team oriented, goals oriented, and flexible with proven track record in collaborating with multiple stakeholders and driving results 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex information in an easy-to-understand manner with clear recommendations based on data insight 

  • Deep expertise in analytics toolkit.  For example, SQL, Python or R; Tableau or Looker 

Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands 

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time 

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily 

  • Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally 

  • Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment 

  • Hours regularly 40 hours per week
