Position Summary
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to work with the Information Technology (IT) team and business partners to organize, source, negotiate and manage agreements for technology related products and services. This individual will ensure internal and external customer satisfaction by delivering industry best in class pricing and outstanding vendor performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with departmental leaders in the development, implementation and on-going management of agreements
- Perform bid preparation, data collection and analysis, strategy development, technology vendor negotiations, IT contract development and IT contract management
- Lead the contract process from solicitation to execution
- Maintain knowledge of IT technologies, products and services; and corresponding market trends
- Serve as escalation point for vendor relationship issues
- Manage and communicate project status and results with internal and external customers
- Develop and enhance processes related to sourcing and contract execution while continuously seeking process improvement and operation efficiency
- Additional duties as assigned
Skills, Abilities, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT Business, Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Engineering or related field required
- 5+ years of IT procurement experience required
- Experience in Information and Technology preferred
- Knowledge of contracting principles, vendor management, and product/service sourcing
- Experience in negotiations with an understanding of contract implications and total cost of ownership
- Aptitude for solving complex problems and influencing stakeholders, and the intuitive foresight to envision and orchestrate effective change by setting a strategic direction to deliver against key financial and growth objectives
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing, process improvement and creative solutions to conceive, communicate and lead the development and implementation of a wide variety of strategies and productivity initiatives
- Results driven with proven ability, composure and judgment in consistently making cost effective decisions on a timely basis by utilizing others to deliver systemic and sustainable improvements in a quality manner despite obstacles
- Vision to support creating alternative strategies and intuitively adjust to a changing environment
- High ethical standards demonstrated by individual approach to business and ability to set that tone for the overall organization
- An assertive, yet collaborative and team-oriented leadership style challenging others to make a difference while exercising political savvy to maintain integrity in all relationships
- Strong experience working with PeopleSoft ePro or a similar ERP system preferred
- Strong experience working with contract management platforms such as Conga/Navotus preferred
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, and MS SharePoint
- Experience with additional Microsoft O365 products Teams and SharePoint
- Experience working with ServiceNow platform a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills complemented with highly effective presentation, interpersonal and consulting skills in working across all aspects of the business levels of the organization and outside contacts
Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
- Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis
- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment
