Responsibilities:  The responsibilities of the Inbound Merchandise Receiving Clerk will consist of but are not limited to the following:

  • Report discrepancies with inbound merchandise and purchase orders including but not limited to, packaging process, ASN issues, carton and/or unit discrepancies, price ticketing, mixing of class/colors and cross-dock issues
  • Inspect merchandise to include checking for shortages and rejecting damaged goods
  • Communicate and conduct vendor chargebacks
  • Maintain and extract information from various databases and spreadsheets to coordinate and plan even deliveries to distribution center.
  • Proficient software skills with Microsoft Office with intermediate to advance skills with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook (skills testing will be required)
  • Knowledge in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), TMS (Transportation management system) and YMS (Yard management system)
  • Handle incoming and outgoing electronic communications
  • Provide feedback to management regarding discrepancies.
  • Participate in inventory management
  • Provide support and assistance with any situation that involves the quality of merchandise
  • Facilitate effective exchange of information with employees and management personnel
  • Perform safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe work environment
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned by management
  • Coordinate inbound deliveries
  • Plan live off loads by day
  • Understand and have working knowledge of CTPAT process
  • Maintain daily and weekly receiving information in Excel

 

Skills/Abilities/Experience & Qualifications:

  • Previous Excel/Microsoft Office preferred
  • Prior receiving experience preferably in a fast-paced, high volume distribution center environment  
  • Excellent communication skills and good command of the English language (speak, read, and understand English for purposes of performing necessary job duties)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with management and all levels within the organization with a friendly and outgoing attitude
  • Must possess good business writing to create professional documents for management (able to write correspondence and documents effectively, clearly and correctly using correct grammar and word choice)
  • Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Initiative to learn TMW business operations in the distribution center and self-motivator with willingness to take on new tasks, challenges and opportunities
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and good follow-up skills
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and good problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Highly motivated and high initiative to provide proactive solutions to problems
  • Goal-oriented and task driven to meet deadlines
  • Possess sense of urgency to meet tight deadlines in a time-sensitive, fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to work in a distribution center environment setting with a combination of clerical and production-type responsibilities
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a changing environment.

 

Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis
  • Able to lift and move up to 10 pounds occasionally
